Farnsworth Morse code Calculator

Farnsworth timing is defined as sending the characters at a faster speed than the words.
For example, sending the characters at 13 WPM but adding enough
time between them to slow down the rate to 5 WPM.

How the difference in timing compare to each other is calculated and showing on this page.
The element caclulation is based on the standard word PARIS.

PARIS is the standard for determing CW code speed. Each dit is one element,
each dah is three elements, inter-elements* spacing is one element,
inter-character spacing is three elements and inter-word spacing is seven elements.
The word PARIS is exactly 50 elements.

Effective WPM / Standard WPM : /

Because the site is responsive: set your screen so width as possible for the best effect.
Values between 1 and 40 are accepted, all other will be ignored. The effective value cannot be greater then the standard value.

dit/inter-element*0.08 seconds (corresponds to 1 element at 15 WPM)
inter-character 0.24 seconds (corresponds to 3 elements at 15 WPM)
inter-word 0.56 seconds (corresponds to 7 elements at 15 WPM)

Total Paris x 15 times per minute
dit/dah/inter-element* 37.2 seconds
inter-character 14.4 seconds
inter-word 8.4 seconds
Totaal 60 seconds

Morse characters and inter-elements* spaces are in 15 standard WPM
Inter-char and inter-word spaces are in 15 standard WPM
Effective speed is 15 WPM
